The Process

We believe that help should come quickly, with dignity, and with genuine care. Every application is reviewed promptly, every decision is made fairly, and every recipient is met with encouragement — not just assistance. We also believe that the Hope of Jesus Christ be at the front and center of why Mercy is given.
Step 1

Submit your application

Visit our website and complete the Crisis Assistance Application. You'll share basic personal, household, and financial information, along with a brief description of your need and any supporting documents — such as a utility bill, rent statement, or bank statement.
Step 2 - WITHIN 24 HOURS

Intake & verification

Your application is automatically logged and reviewed by our team for completeness and eligibility. If anything is missing, we'll reach out. No application sits unread — we move quickly because we know your need is real. Applicants also receive an automatic email verifying that we received their applications immediately.
Step 3 - WITHIN 48 HOURS

Eligibility review

Each application is evaluated against IRS nonprofit guidelines, Hope Works policies, and the specific criteria set by the donor fund being accessed. Decisions are based entirely on objective financial need — not on employment, personal connections, or any other outside factor.
Step 4

Approval decision

Applications meeting all criteria are approved. Those that don't are declined respectfully and, where appropriate, with a brief explanation. We treat every applicant with dignity throughout this process.
Step 5

Grant fulfillment

Upon approval, a check is issued and mailed directly to you or your vendor. Every grant is accompanied by a message of hope — a reminder that this gift comes not just from a company, but from a community that believes in the love of Jesus Christ.
Step 6

Personal follow-up

A Hope Works team member personally contacts every recipient — to share the good news, offer a word of encouragement, and extend an offer to pray together. This is always voluntary, always genuine, and always an extension of our mission to be the hands and feet of Christ in practical ways.
